Lloret de Mar was a coastal town from Barcelona where fishing was one of the main sources of income. It was a lifestyle, even if it's origins are dated back to the iberians and romans. There are arecheological remains in the locality to this day. Iberians and Romans were the first to settle in these lands. The Iberians are know for Puig de Castellet (s.III b.c), and from the romans the remains in Els Avellaners de Can Sala.
In the midieval era, LLoret de Mar was a fuedal municipality. From this era the Saint John Castle from the 11th century was built, and has seen great part of Lloret's history.
Other currents like modernism have also gone through LLoret, a locality that is related to the country, agriculture, sea, fishing, and art which is still present along it's beautiful streets. This began to change in the year 1950 with the coming of the first tourists. In the last century, Lloret de Mar has become what it is today, a preferred tourist destination worldwide. |
